About the society

A society for sharp money instincts.

The Mathematical Finance Society exists for one reason: by the time most people take money seriously, their most powerful asset — time — is already half spent. We help 16-year-olds start earlier, armed with the maths that makes a real difference.

Our mission

Financial literacy is a mathematical skill

At school you learn algebra and statistics. We connect those lessons to the decisions you'll make for the rest of your life.

The world of money can feel impenetrable — a wall of acronyms, fees and fine print designed to confuse. But strip it back and almost everything reduces to a few honest equations: exponential growth, percentages, probability, and opportunity cost.

Our job is to hand you those equations, show you how they move, and give you enough practice that they become second nature. Understand compound interest and you understand the single biggest force in personal finance. Understand risk and diversification and you understand why nobody quotes Einstein about putting all your eggs in one basket.

You don’t need to be a maths genius. You need to start, and you need to start now. That counting-down clock works for you too.

What we stand for

Our principles

Maths over vibes

Every claim on this site can be checked with a formula and a calculator. If we can’t show the numbers, we don’t say it.

Honest, not alarmist

Money can be genuinely exciting. We skip the doom and the hype and give you the truth — including the boring parts.

Built for 16

Not one-size-fits-all “adult” finance. Written at the level of a curious 16-year-old who wants to get ahead, early.

For everyone

No parents, no bank, no product to sell. Just useful knowledge, free, in your browser.
